Many of us have an image that springs to mind when we hear the term “black tie wedding” and for me this was it.

For starters, Maddy and David are just the most gorgeous couple with looks and poise that evoke classic Hollywood movie stars. Add to that the majestic setting of the historic Milton Park Country House estate and all that was missing were the flashbulbs of the paparazzi as they arrived.

Fortunately I was there to capture their beautiful autumn wedding day as it unfolded, and what a spectacular day it was. Warm with just a slight breeze and the leaves glowing in the burnt red and orange shades that autumn in the Southern Highlands is renowned for,

The ceremony took place on the gorgeous Tulip Lawn with Maddy stealing the show as she made her entrance accompanied by her mother.

If there’s a place that suits a large bridal party, Milton Park is it. The wide driveways and dramatic buildings made perfect locations to capture Maddy and David with their entourage as we roamed the endless grounds. And yet there’s also a quiet intimacy to Milton Park which resulted in some of my favourite images of the bride and groom as they strolled hand in hand, just the two of them.

Speeches are one of my favourite times of the day and this reception didn’t disappoint. All the speakers hit the mark causing endless raucous laughter, mostly at the expense of David, but he took it all in his stride and delivered a fitting riposte.

After cutting the cake (made by Maddy’s sister) and executing a perfectly synchronised and choreographed first dance medley the dancefloor opened and, as with all good weddings, the guests danced and partied long into the night .
